2013 NFL Mock Draft Update
We have updated our 2013 NFL Mock Draft. We are looking forward to free agency kicking off soon as that will shape the NFL Draft needs of the NFL teams. Until then, we have the NFL Draft Combine coming up next week that will shake up the speculation and solve some legitimate questions with many of the NFL Draft prospects. Until then, here are some comments on some of our picks for this 2013 NFL Mock Draft Update…
1.1 Kansas City Chiefs: Geno Smith, West Virginia
Previous: Luke Joeckel
1.4 Philadelphia Eagles: Luke Joeckel
Previous: Geno Smith
These two picks have been interchangeable in our last few updates. At this time, it appears that the Eagles will go with whichever player that the Chiefs don’t. Ironic that Andy Reid still has an influence on their draft. Many don’t feel like Geno Smith is a first overall pick QB, but the real question is if it is determined that he is a first round pick worthy for the team. If he is considered worthy of the first round pick, it is not as pertinent as to where he is. Especially since the change in rookie deals. we will know more about Smith’s fate as free agency plays out as the Chiefs could go that route.
1.15 New Orleans Saints: Kenny Vaccaro, S, Texas
Previous: Sheldon Richardson
This is going to be an interesting draft for the New Orleans Saints. Given their salary cap situation, the Saints are not looking to make a splash in Free Agency. With that, this is an important draft for the Saints as they move to a 3-4 defense with Rob Ryan. An obvious need with that switch is a rush OLB and a change on the defensive line. The Saints could go with Dion Jordan at this pick if his size is not an issue, but passing up on Vaccaro may prove too difficult. We have all heard about the Saints secondary last season and while not a glaring 3-4 starting point, Safety is a needed position for the Saints.
1.31 Baltimore Ravens: Alec Ogletree, ILB, Georgia
Previous: No Change
This is not a change as we have had Ogletree to the Ravens for our last couple of updates. What is a change is the stock of Ogletree. Before this was a pick that fell as a value to the Ravens. It would still be a value if it happened, especially since we expect his stock to go back up, but with the recent DUI arrest this is a more likely landing spot in the order.
Until next time, check out the rest of the 2013 NFL Mock Draft Update…
